Pancakes are famous around the world. Almost every country has its own version of the pancake. From thin crepes to thick crumpets, the basic pancake recipe is used in pretty much every culture! You will find the humble pancake for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. It’s also sure to make an appearance on the odd special occasion.
We’ve all seen the stacks of pancakes served for breakfast around the US. Traditional American pancakes usually contain eggs and melted butter. They are also served with whipped cream, ice cream, melted butter and sometimes honey.
When ordering pancakes, you might be able to ask if they are vegan. However, most restaurants still serve non-vegan pancakes.
But, don’t worry, with this recipe you’ll be able to make your own stack of breakfast pancakes and be able to rest assured that every part is vegan-friendly!
Tips to make your own vegan pancakes
We’ve taken the traditional recipe and adapted it to create vegan pancakes that are quick and easy to make. The following tips will help you create the perfect stack for breakfast!
Use a sieve to prevent lumps
Sift all the dry ingredients into a bowl before adding the liquid. By using a sieve, you will reduce the chance of your pancakes having lumps. It will also introduce air into the dry mix which will help with fluffiness.

Add the milk slowly and keep mixing so that the batter is smooth
It may be tempting to add the liquid quickly and just mix the batter. However, this might cause lumps to form in your pancakes. Add the milk little by little and keep mixing to prevent this from happening.

Flip the pancakes when they begin to bubble
Make sure that the pan is medium-hot when you add the first dollop of the pancake mix. When small bubbles begin to form on the top of the pancake, it’s ready to be turned. They should be golden brown on the bottom.

Serve with your choice of vegan-friendly toppings
We served our warm pancakes with mixed berries, maple syrup, and homemade Vegan Ice Cream. Melted vegan butter will also taste delicious!
